Let’s LearnHungarian

Hungarian citizenship, without the guesswork.

The official guidance is scattered across government sites, forums, and outdated blog posts. This guide puts Hungary’s simplified naturalization process (egyszerűsített honosítás) in one place, in plain English, from eligibility up to approval — the eligibility rules, the document chain, the appointment, the language requirement, and the mistakes that delay or sink applications — with Hungarian lessons for the interview conversation itself.

Requirements are sourced

Requirements and deadlines link to the law or official guidance; our own practical advice is labelled as such.

Plain English, not legalese

Written the way you'd explain it to a friend, not a government form.

One price, kept up to date

No subscription. Pay once — future revisions and additions are already included.

Written by someone who’s actually done it

I went through this process myself — the real document chain, an adoption-records complication, and an Iowa vital-records dead end I had to work around. This guide is what I wish I’d had going in.

Questions before you buy

Is this official, or affiliated with the Hungarian government?

No — this is an independent, plain-English guide built from public official guidance. It's not legal advice and not a substitute for your Hungarian consulate or a qualified immigration attorney for anything unusual about your situation.

I've already started my application. Is this still useful?

Yes — the guide is organized by stage (eligibility, documents, the appointment, the interview, common mistakes), so you can jump straight to wherever you are and use the rest as a reference as you go.

What's the difference between this and hiring an attorney?

This guide teaches you the process so you can handle a straightforward case yourself. If your situation is complicated — contested ancestry, prior denials, unusual documents — that's exactly when it's worth paying an attorney for advice specific to you.

Does this guarantee my application will be approved?

No. Each application is decided by the Hungarian authorities, and nothing here can promise an outcome. The guide explains the process as the official guidance describes it, so you know what to prepare and can avoid common, avoidable mistakes.

Can I just memorize answers for the interview?

The lessons give you model answers to adapt to your own story, but the interview is a conversation, not a recited script. Use the lessons to practice understanding questions and answering in your own words — and if you're starting from zero, the separate language course builds the basics first.

Is the language course included?

No. The language course (lessons for general Hungarian — the first three free, then $6.99 a month or $49 a year) is separate. The Citizenship Guide is a one-time $29 purchase and doesn't include the course, and the course doesn't include the guide.

Can I buy the Oath & After add-on without the base guide?

Yes. It's a standalone $9 purchase — useful on its own if you've already been approved and only need the post-approval steps. It also works the other way: buy the base guide now and add this any time later.

Ready to stop guessing?
