Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Let's Learn Hungarian at https://letslearnhungarian.com (the “Service”), operated by Michael Soucek. By using the Service — and, when you create an account, by ticking the box that links to these terms — you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
The Service is an informal educational aid for learning basic Hungarian. The alphabet page and the first three lessons are free; the rest of the course, the word list, and the practice tools (flashcards, quizzes, exercises, and review) require an active subscription. It is not a certified course, a translation service, or professional language instruction, and it does not create any professional or advisory relationship between you and Michael Soucek. See the Disclaimer.
2. Accounts
You may use the free parts of the Service without an account. Subscribing requires one. If you create an account, you must give an accurate email address, keep your login credentials to yourself, and be at least the minimum age stated at sign-up. You are responsible for activity under your account.
You may delete your account at any time from the account page, which permanently removes your login and learning data. Deleting your account also cancels any active subscription immediately, ending access without a refund for the rest of the period. Michael Soucek may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, is used abusively, or has been inactive for a long period (after notice to the email on file).
3. Subscriptions, purchases, and billing
Paid access is billed in advance, monthly or annually as you choose at checkout, and renews automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. Payment is processed by Stripe; Michael Soucek does not see or store your card details. You can cancel anytime from the billing portal linked on your account page — cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
Subscription payments are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods, except where the law gives you a right to a refund. Michael Soucek may change prices for future billing periods with advance notice; continuing your subscription after a price change means you accept it.
The Citizenship Guide is a separate, one-time purchase that immediately unlocks all of its content. Because it is fully delivered at the moment of purchase, it is non-refundable once bought, except where the law gives you a right to a refund. By completing the purchase, you ask for and consent to immediate access to the guide and acknowledge that doing so may forfeit a statutory right of withdrawal (such as the EU/UK 14-day cooling-off right for digital content) to the extent the law permits waiving it this way.
4. No reliance
The material is general, simplified, compiled with the help of automated tools, and not reviewed by a certified linguist. You are solely responsible for anything you do with it. Where accuracy matters, obtain advice from a qualified Hungarian teacher or a professional translator.
5. “As is” and “as available”
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, currency, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Michael Soucek does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any error will be corrected.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Michael Soucek and any contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Michael Soucek's total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed EUR 50 (or, if you paid to use the Service, the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations or exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Intellectual property
Individual Hungarian words and common set phrases are not claimed by anyone. The selection, arrangement, wording of the explanations and pronunciation guides, the site design, and the underlying code are the property of Michael Soucek or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property law. You may use the Service for your own personal study. You may not republish or redistribute substantial portions of the site’s text or data as your own product, or use them to train commercial models, without permission.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to disrupt it, scraping it at a scale that degrades it for others, probing its security, or using it to break any law.
9. Third-party links and content
The Service may link to third-party sites and, in future, may show advertising. Michael Soucek does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, products, or practices.
10. Changes
Michael Soucek may change the Service or these terms at any time. Material changes will be shown by updating the “last updated” date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of that place have exclusive jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by law.
