Lesson 65 of 74 · B1, Unit 2: Real conversations
Certainty and doubt
A handful of adverbs carry you from certain to doubtful: biztosan ('certainly'), valószínűleg ('probably'), talán ('maybe') — just drop one in near the start of a sentence, word order doesn't need to change.
For a fuller opinion, pair lehet or kétlem with a hogy-clause from two lessons back: Lehet, hogy igazad van ('It's possible that you're right'), Kétlem, hogy eljön ('I doubt that he'll come').
By the end you can:
- express certainty and probability with biztosan, valószínűleg, and talán
- voice doubt or possibility with lehet, hogy... and kétlem, hogy...
- use vajon to wonder aloud or ask a rhetorical question
