Lesson 2 of 19
Numbers, dates & your address
The personal-detail questions from the previous lesson often lead straight into numbers: your date of birth, your phone number, your street address. This lesson gives you the pattern for reading any number aloud, not just the examples below.
Hungarian numbers are fully regular once you know the pattern — tens and ones combine directly (negyvenkettő = negyven + kettő) — and a string of digits like a phone number is simply read one digit at a time.
By the end you can:
- read a house number, zip code, and phone number aloud, digit by digit
- give your full address in a way an official can follow
- ask someone to write a number down or spell something out if it's hard to catch by ear
