Lesson 40 of 74 · A1, Unit 4: Location cases
Saying where to: into and onto
Just as -ban/-ben means 'in', its motion partner -ba/-be means 'into': Bemegyek a boltba ('I'm going into the shop'). Every 'where' suffix from the last lesson has a matching 'to where' partner.
The pattern mirrors what you already learned: interior nouns take -ba/-be, surface-set nouns (including most place names) take -ra/-re, and people take -hoz/-hez/-höz: Iskolába megyek, Budapestre megyek, Péterhez megyek.
By the end you can:
- say where you're going using -ba/-be (into) and -ra/-re (onto/to)
- use -hoz/-hez/-höz for 'to someone's place'
- recognise haza as a frozen 'to home' form, distinct from otthon
