Lesson 10 of 74 · A1, Unit 5: Out and about
Shopping and money
Hungary's currency is the forint (Ft) — you will not need euros in an ordinary shop, though a few tourist spots near the border take them too. Prices are shown with the number first and Ft after: 1500 Ft.
The core question is the one from a few lessons back, Mennyibe kerül?, 'how much does it cost?'. This lesson builds on it: naming the shop, asking about card payment, and the handful of lines a cashier or shop assistant will say back to you.
By the end you can:
- ask the price of something and understand the answer
- say whether you want to pay by card or in cash
- recognise nyitva / zárva and the other words on a shop door
- handle browsing without buying: Csak nézelődöm
