Lesson 23 of 74 · A2, Unit 4: Health, feelings, and people
Making plans and invitations
szeretnél ('would you like') is the polite way to suggest something: Szeretnél moziba jönni? ('Would you like to come to the cinema?'). It's the conditional of szeretne, which you'll meet in full later.
Accepting is easy — Szívesen! ('gladly') or Persze! ('of course!'). Declining politely usually softens the no with sajnos ('unfortunately').
By the end you can:
- suggest meeting up or doing something together
- accept an invitation enthusiastically
- decline politely with sajnos + a reason
